Environmental Manager Jobs
An Environmental Manager in the utilities industry is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental strategies and policies to ensure the company complies with local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations. They monitor and manage environmental issues such as air and water quality, waste disposal, and conservation. Their role involves conducting environmental audits, preparing environmental impact statements, and managing the company's carbon footprint. They also ensure the company adheres to environmental standards and best practices, which may include renewable energy initiatives and energy efficiency programs.
Important skills for an Environmental Manager include a strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong communication skills. They must also have leadership abilities, be able to manage projects and teams, and have a keen eye for detail. Certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA), or Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) are commonly required. Before becoming an Environmental Manager, a person might have roles such as Environmental Analyst, Environmental Consultant, or Environmental Engineer.
