Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Department Manager to lead the Water/Wastewater Engineering Resource Group from our Williamsville, NY headquarters. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for organizing and guiding our technical teams and water/wastewater specialists, ensuring projects are efficiently scheduled and executed. Alongside your leadership and mentoring duties, you will serve as both the technical expert and project manager on medium to large scale water and wastewater projects, covering study, design, and construction phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the trusted advisor to established water and wastewater clients and support the sales team in developing and securing new project work.
- Mentor and guide junior staff in strong design practices; leverage your design experience to drive project success.
- Oversee and coordinate the scheduling and commitments of project teams to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
- Diagnose, analyze, and implement treatment process improvements, optimizing treatment plant operation systems, including pretreatment, filtration, chemical disinfection, residuals, and energy systems.
- Lead asset evaluations and support long-term capital planning initiatives.
- Perform hydraulic modeling of treatment processes and storage systems.
- Provide water and wastewater expertise to supplement utility staff during critical situations.
- Represent the Ashton North's client Water/Wastewater Group within the broader organization, ensuring alignment with corporate management objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the water and/or wastewater discipline.
- Strong proficiency in design with the ability to mentor and lead junior staff effectively.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to job sites and attend client meetings; occasional overnight travel required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, coupled with strong leadership, management, and mentoring skills.
Must be willing to go into the office. It is Hybrid. 3 days in the office 2 work from home.
