Position Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you will carry out fieldwork, perform data analysis, and produce technical reports. This role involves significant travel domestically, to support field investigations, installations, commissioning, and maintenance of systems.
This is a dynamic role with opportunities for professional development in a rapidly advancing technological sector. You will work closely with clients to provide support, technical expertise, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Install and commission PD monitoring systems at client sites.
Conduct Partial Discharge (PD) surveying using specialized test equipment on MV /HV assets, substations and power stations.
Investigate and locate sources of PD using diagnostic tools.
Perform maintenance and upgrades on PD monitors installed in substations.
Supervise contractors during installations to ensure work is carried out according to agreed timelines and quality standards.
Carry out repairs, maintenance, and upgrade work on PD monitors.
Analyze field test results and produce technical reports for clients.
Provide routine analysis and reporting of online customer PD data.
Liaise directly with domestic clients, ensuring successful test procedures, installations, and maintenance.
Lift up to 50 pounds, move equipment, climb ladders, and work outdoors as needed.
Travel by air and car for extended periods to visit customers.
Pass mandatory safety training and annual re courses.
Follow company and customer safety procedures, with a focus on emergency protocols.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field experience.
NETA Technician certification is required.
Experience with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.
Ability to work independently and remotely for extended periods.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of producing clear and professional technical reports.
Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically up to 75% of time.
Must have a valid driver s license and be able to rent a car.
Eligibility to work in the USA is required.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and periodic drug tests if required by customers.
Preferred Experience :
Previous experience in the power industry, particularly in substations or high-voltage asset maintenance.
Familiarity with Partial Discharge detection, monitoring, and maintenance systems.
Substation installation experience.
